Geagte Ouers

  1. In graad 8 en 9 volg alle leerders in alle skole dieselfde leerareas.

Mnr. A.J. Gouws, Skoolfhoof

Dear Parents

Thank you for the opportunity to introduce Point High School to you. We would like to introduce the following important aspects to be considered:

  1. In Grade 8 and 9 all learners in all schools have the same learning areas.
  2. The curriculum of the school has been adapted and extended to satisfy the needs of learners over a wide spectrum. Its objective is to prepare learners for further study at a university, teachers’ college, agricultural college or technicon according to ability and interests. At the same time, it also takes into consideration the needs of those learners who want to enter the labour market once they have obtained a matric certificate.
  3. It is important to pay regular attention to the future plans of each child. This will enable parents and members of staff to affect changes should circumstances, interests and the conditions for entry to tertiary institutions change.
  4. The principal and school psychologist are available to answer any further enquiries.
  5. Point High School is a school of excellence testimony to which are our annual matric results.

Should your child enroll at this school, you may be assured that Point High School is a dynamic, disciplined educational organization where every person can live out his/her unique potential. Our purpose is therefore to provide a positive contribution to the school and every learner’s development. To achieve this, I would like to ask you as parent to help us to install the values of respect, responsibility, honesty, care and innovation in your child. We therefore offer educational opportunities to each child which will enable him/her to develop into a well-adapted, happy and involved member of the community. This can be achieved only if the learner subjects himself/herself to the disciplined educational environment which we are striving to establish.

However, at the same time I would like to take the liberty of drawing your attention to your responsibility as far as raising your child is concerned. By implication this means that there should be an open and trusting partnership between parents and the school. Parents must realize that discipline starts at home and that children must be taught to respect adults, as well as other children.

Yours faithfully

Mr A.J. Gouws, Principal
